Football is a team-based sport played on a marked field known as a gridiron. The goal of the game is to score points by touchdowns or field goals.

What are the main rules of football?

Rules can vary depending on whether the game is played by American or Canadian football rules, with the main difference being the size of the field.

What do I need to play football?

If you're playing recreationally all you'll need is enough people to form two teams, a large open space, and a football. For organized leagues you'll need protective equipment, a proper gridiron field with goalposts, and full teams.

What equipment do you need for youth football?

Football gear required for youth football includes a helmet, shoulder pads, pants with leg pads, a mouthguard, gloves, athletic supporter and cup, and football shoes.
