Exceeded my expectation

I was needlessly sceptical of the ability of this light electric saw. It steadily bucked over 100 ft. of 12 inch logs without any trouble. Yes it’s a little slower than a gas powered saw, yes it is limited to cord length (duh), but I ran it on the end of 100ft cable without any problems. It leaks a little oil when not in use, which is pain, but lying it on its side with the blade tilted up seems to help. All-in-all: I’m pretty happy with it. I'd give it 5 stars if it didn't leak oil.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Absolutely Excellent

Got mine a year ago to do some minor work in the backyard - had couple of dead bushes and a pair of dead plums of ~10 cm in diameter. Private guys said they will remove everything for couple of hundred cacks. This chainsaw was on sale for 45, thought why not? Took me 15 min total and three refills of oil (10-15 mL each). Great? Yea! Then, got some wood for my fireplace, about 10 inches each. 10 mins - 15 cuts plus oil refills every 3-4 cuts. Just great! Finally, had to cut/fell some 10 trees and cut them into appropriate pieces. Took awhile, and had to buy some more oil, but... It would cost me a grand or more if hired private guys... Still working, and, hopefully, will. And YES, after all these - definitely needs sharpening. Include some pictures to show its capabilities.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Oil tank won't fill

Picked this up the other day with some winter bar oil. Poured a few table spoons of oil and it just sits at the top of the filler tube. Tried a few things (straw, stick etc.) didn't work. No matter what I tried, the oil just won't drip into the oil tank. I took the chain saw apart and it appears to be a design flaw. The round top of the filler tube is about the size of a quarter, then gets narrow leading down to the filler tank itself. This design could be creating air lock. The chain saw is simple and appears to be well built. While I had the bar/chain off, I turned it on and could see oil shooting out so there is some oil going through the oil pump. I won't be using the chain saw to cut wood, so I guess the oil filler problem is not such a big deal. still like it because it's very light and I only bought it to cut through the ice on my driveway sewer drain during the spring melt down. It's got enough power for this use and wanted to spend as little money as possible. Has anyone else had this problem filling the oil tank? I could always use a filler tube attached to a syringe etc. and fill it from the bottom up, but I will only use this a couple times a year so don't want to bother. This could be a real problem if someone was buying this to cut a lot of wood. A few table spoons of oil wouldn't go very far. Could be topping it up every few minutes.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works Perfectly

Bought this to cut up an old tree trunk (up to 16" in diameter) and it did a great job. Seems as long as you read the manual, keep the oil reservoir full and make sure the chain tensioner is fully locked you should be good to go.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Questions

Q: what type of oil is needed for a chainsaw? can I use the oil for lawmower?

4 Answers
  • A: Chain and bar oil is is a "sticky" oil made to stay in place on the chain as it rotates, it is available in summer and winter thicknesses. Regular oil will not stay in place on the bar. If you don't like the thought of throwing oil everywhere you can buy biodegradable chain oil.

  • A: Warm the oil and put a long drinking straw as deep as possible (to avoid air bubble stuck) into the oil tank.

Q: where can I buy yardworks parts? I hit a knot and stripped the main gear that drives the chain. Nobody seems to carry any parts for this saw.

  • A: Yardworks is a Canadian Tire owned company. Try calling them at 1-866-523-5218 if your local store can't help. The chain wheel part number is 33902102 in the owners manual.
