The Yardworks 6-Ton 1-3/4 HP Duo Cut Electric Log Splitter with Pedal breaks down the toughest logs for firewood and kindling. This splitter can be used outdoors and indoors. It has two splitting wedges that split the log from both ends and provide 6 tons of splitting force. Its unique dual-wedge design features twice the splitting capacity and is more efficient. Electric splitter

I won’t be able to give an honest review until spring/summer. I’ve only been able to try it out with some small pieces of hard wood I had in my garage. I’ve only used gas splitters in the past which would go right through the wood. But this almost stalled for a second or two before the wood split. It kind of “popped” when it split the two pieces that I tried. I’m not sure if that’s with all electric splitters to prolong the motors life? I am interested to see how it holds up once i get it up north.

Great little splitter. I use it to make kindling . I have split Jackpine, birch,ash and maple.. I pull up a chair and split away. Foot pedal is too small when you have big boots.

Needs a longer foot pedle cable

Whatever size or type of wood we put on the little splitter was easily handled at a reasonable speed. The cable on the mechanical foot pedle is too short to be able to mount the splitter on the stand we bought plus the mounting holes and the bolts in the stand kit are all wrong. We contacted Yardworks and they agree there is something wrong with the info on the CT website. Would be happier with the little log splitter if its foot pedle cable was longer (it's a 16" long back ache).

A: yes, it works totally fine on a 15 amp breaker. Even when it struggles it does not trip the breaker.

Q: Has anyone tried to extend the wire for the pedal? or switch out the pedal? I like putting the splitter at waist height when working. Thanks in advance!

A: I replaced the short cable with a 73" derailleur cable (from Canadian Tire). It was a bit tricky building a replacement S end for the cable that fits into the pedal itself and setting the tension up correctly. Now that it works I love the machine and have already split a dozen cords with it. I lift the splitter onto the tailgate of my truck and split as I unload. Using the pedal and allowing my hands to be free really speeds things up, even with the slow cycle time.

A: Oui tout a fait. J'ai enlevé cette pédale et le câble trop court et changer le levier avec un de la fendeuse à bois de King Canada modèle KC-5LSN qui s'ajuste très bien, c'est sans doute le même fabricant. Beaucoup plus facile a opérer ainsi. Le levier se vend a peine quelques dollars.

Q: Couple of comments about good at splitting pine; how is it at splitting hard wood; maple, oak, etc

A: It is capable of splittig maple and oak. If the log is extremely hard, try to rotate the log 180° in order to split it from the other side. Anyway if the log cannot be split in 5 seconds it means that the hardness of the log exceeds the capacity of the log splitter.

A: The foot pedal is pretty short and stiff, under 2 feet. You couldn't have the splitter on a stand and the pedal on the floor unless you replace the pedal's cable.
