I just bought this trimmer ( Yardworks 48volt Max 15 inch direct drive grass trimmer ) two days ago and used it yesterday. Assembly was pretty easy and I charged the battery while assembling it and getting things ready to go. My lawn “ edges “ were pretty far gone so this was a good test of this trimmer. I was pleasantly surpised at how powerful it was while tackling the halfway to my knees high grass and assorted weeds. I didn’t really time myself but I estimate I got about 30 minutes out of that first battery charge and 5hat was with a majority of heavy foliage “ trimming “. I’m not sure if this is a sign that the battery needs to be recharged but near the end, the trimmer would run for about 30seconds and then shut off. The batter didn’t feel hot but I let it cool down for about45 minutes before trying it again. The same thing happened, on for 20-30 seconds and then off, so I recharged the battery until a steady green on the charger but I didn’t try the trimmer again yet. I’m considering picking up another 2ah battery or a 4ah battery if and when 5hey go on sale. One great feature is the “ sensor “ mode which gives a lower speed/power mode on light trimming but kicks it up to full power when you get into heavier foliage. I fined the handle/ the trigger, are good. I’m 6 ft 2 and find the length just about right. The trimmer is amazingly quiet considering how powerful it is. Here’s a tip for people with an almost full roll of trimmer “ cord “ that’s been sitting around for a long time. It gets “ brittle “ and even some new cord that has been sitting on the store shelf does this so put the roll of trimmer cord into a bucket of water for a day or two. This makes it less “ brittle “.

This yard work tool is easy to use, little weight and does the job. Used it in heavy grassed terrain and it had no problem cutting through.

Q: After the first use ( 25-30 mins) the trimmer would run for about 15-20seconds and then stop. Is this because the battery needed a recharge? I didn’t need to use it after that. Is a 4ah battery compatible and would it give double the run time?

A: Hello There! Thank you for your question. The situation you are experiencing can definitely be from the battery having no charge as 25-30 minutes of use is average. We suggest fully charging the battery and trying again. However, the 4.0AH battery will double the run time in comparison to the 2.0AH battery it comes with. Thank you for choosing Yardworks !
