Love it. Durable

Bought it for my wife years ago. She says its 10 years old. Too lazy to check but close to that. She abuses the heck out of it and it keeps working. Dry or green if she can get it through the chute it gets chopped up. Large volume for personal use in her gardens and yard. Just checked blades and they are still fairly sharp except for some damage in some spots. I see blades on the internet but haven't bought them yet. Very happy. David

Where do you get replacement blades? You can only sharpen them so many times. What was Canadian Tire thinking? Yardworks is a brand to avoid.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Blades avaiability

Got this a few years back when we moved here was happy with the unit worked for our needs disappointed when blades got dull and Canadian Tire did NOT carry Replacement Blades but I got a set from Yardworks when I called them on their number . You can also find some on the Internet I found some on E-Bay for a reasonable price, lets not forget you can turn them around and they can be sharpened by some one handy.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Poor quality and not serviceable. Typical import Canadian Tire junk. Have not purchased anything from Canadian Tire in last 8 months and never will again.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Shredded material. Is there some way to capture the material as it is shredding, for example, a bag?

  • A: I removed the bucket located atop the shredder and used it to capture the chips! Don't forget the buckets plug!( which comes with the unit). Mind you I was dealing with branches and not feather raked lawn debris. The bucket worked great and not heavy at all when filled with chips :o) Have a good day! Lakefront...

Q: I have been to several Canadian Tire outlets in Vancouver, searching for replacement blades for my YardWorks Electric Garden Shredder # 60-3870-6. Where can I buy replacement blades for my YardWorks Electric Garden Shredder, model # 60-3870-6? Could you please answer this question ASAP. Thank you.

  • A: You can get blades online from various sellers. Most all the chippers of this style have the same blade. Same as Eco ES1600 McCulloch MC, Sun Joe CJ601E-RBLD, Ryobi RSH2445B, Earthwise GS70015 for example. Canadian Tire didn't know parts existed, but finally carries them (along with the short 6 mm hex bolts).

Q: Shredding fall leaves I was thinking of getting this to reduce the volume of my fall leaf pile,so I can use fewer bags.Would it be good for that?

  • A: I'm sure it would do OK, good chance the unit could get bunged up though, with the smaller sized debris. My self I use my lawn mower which has a bag attached, then from there sprinkle it over the garden planters, base of tree's etc... Good food for the micro organizms in the soil. Have a good day, save a tree :o) Lakefront

Q: Where can I get my shredder repaired? I have a garden shredder Model # 60-3870-6 which I have been unable to restart since a little SNAFU Sunday. I would like to have a go at getting it repaired. Can you suggest someone?

  • A: Someone mentioned internal circuit breaker and got me thinking that since motor is 15A maybe needs a 20A receptacle plug and breaker like in the new kitchen wiring code. Or can one just buy new internal fuse. (can't get mine started either).

Q: Does this work well on leaves? This looks like a newer model than the one I can find reviews on. According to reviews of the other model, it had issues that made shredding leaves impractical. Is this still the case when using this model?

  • A: Not bad with leaves, Rhododendron leaves were chopped into about 1" pieces give or take 1/2 inch. Also chopped some last fall Maple leaves that were piled up, those came out a lot finer.
