Two failed with blade assembly coming unsecured

I had two of these fail. The first one I managed to get replaced under warranty. The second one failed like all the other reviews. There is one single screw holding the entire blade, shaft, and bearing assembly in place. This screw backed itself out, causing a bearing to fall off, and the spinning blade assembly eventually wears through the thin plastic on the underside of the mower. Once it wears through the plastic, the entire assembly becomes unsecured and will vibrate like crazy. Up until it fails, the mower was fine. If you leave your grass to get long, you'll need to cut it in a few heights to not bog down the mower. Oh, and the foam on the handle rips the first time you use it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Do not buy Yardworks! Replacement failed as well.

Well, here I go again. See my previous review in Aug 2024. My second try with the same model just died. I bought the first one on Jul 13/24 to replace an old workhorse that had lasted years (more than 15 years old; another brand from another retailer). The first Yardworks mower failed after 3 uses (Aug 3/24) in the middle of the 3rd time mowing the lawn. Luckily CT was willing exchange it since it was less than a month old. I was hoping it was just a lemon and that the replacement would last much longer. Well, the replacement did last longer (almost a year), but it has now died. As stated, the replacement didn't even last a year (failed on Jul 12/25). Again, the housing around the electric motor (which is plastic) melted in the middle of mowing and the engine started to smoke. Not sure why the housing is plastic. Another point, the bolt holding the blade is plastic as well. Cheap! The product is supposed to have a "4 year limited warranty." I am not sure if the warranty process is still the same, but the warranty booklet and it indicated that I should not return it to the store but instead contact the Yardworks customer service line. Of course, the office is closed on weekends. Further into the book, I noticed that apparently the purchaser was responsible for returning the mower to Yardworks for warranty issues. I shudder to think how much it would cost to ship a 45 lb. mower back to the company. Based on the original purchase and the replacement, I cannot give the product more than 1 star. If 0 stars were possible, that is how I would have rated both mowers. It appears that this particular Yardworks model has now been discontinued. I am not sure what Yardworks will day about a discontinued model, but I have the feeling I will be out the $300 + tax I originally paid. I would not recommend any Yardworks products if this is the way the products are designed and constructed.

No, I do not recommend this product.

No replacement parts

I bought this last spring and it was perfect until it wasn’t. The other day I noticed that the grass catcher had a rip and it was spewing grass out from the hole. I thought I could just order a replacement bag but they have been discontinued. Now I need a new law mower.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: How many amps is it

2 Answers
  • A: It's listed as 12 amps. A standard 15amp outlet works fine. Most of the time it uses less than 10amps as I have measured the current draw when cutting my grass but for heavy thick grass you will probably draw closer to the 12 amp. The lawn mower works very well and I'm onto my second season with it.
