$199.99

Product Details

The Worx 40V Power Share 12” Cordless Chainsaw with Auto-Tension is the tool for you when you want gas-like performance without all the fuss of gasoline, and still want to be free from the cord. With a 21 ft/s cutting speed and 3/8” chain pitch, you get performance that is as good or better than light-duty gas-powered saws. Plus, they’re much easier to start, much cheaper to maintain, and you won’t fill the neighborhood with fumes. And with an electric, you might get tangled up in the cord, and you’re always tethered to an outlet. With the 12” bar, you can safely cut fallen trees up to 21” in diameter. The automatic chain tensioning and lubrication systems make this saw easier to maintain and keep it running at peak efficiency. And the included bar and chain sheath protect the tool while in storage. This particular model doesn’t come with batteries, but that’s by design. It’s meant for users already on the Power Share platform, who can just grab two batteries from the collection they already have. It’s the cost-effective way to buy new cordless tools, because you don’t have to buy a battery each time. The Worx 40V Power Share 12” Cordless Chainsaw with Auto-Tension may be compact, but it’s packed with power. That slim design means it’s easier to control. And the two 20V batteries it uses gives it enough juice to tackle all your routine backyard maintenance, like cleaning up fallen trees and limbs after a storm.

  • AUTO CHAIN TENSIONING: The tool-free chain tightening system prevents you from over-tightening for perfect chain operation every time

  • AUTO CHAIN LUBRICATION: Keeps the chain running smoothly around the bar for an efficient cut

  • SHARE BATTERIES, SAVE MONEY: Worx Power Share is compatible with all Worx 20v and 40v tools, outdoor power and lifestyle products

  • CHAIN BRAKE: A safer saw. Stops the chain quickly if a situation arises

  • COMPACT & LIGHTWEIGHT: At just under 10 lbs, even with the batteries attached, it’s an easy to control chainsaw

  • INCLUDED: Cordless Chainsaw, bar & chain sheath. *Battery & Charger not included

Don't buy this products

I have several Worx tools and was excited to eventually use this product. I bought the original WG381 back in March of 2021, but I really started to use this product this past fall (2023). I have several trees on my property, so thought this would work well instead of using my hard-to-start older gas-powered chainsaw. The initial problem is that the chain kept popping off. Then, I got too close to sawing towards the end of the saw, which caused the chain to pop-off. BUT this time the platform underneath the metal housing that helps to secure the bar broke in a few areas. It's plastic, so there was no longer a platform to screw-down the housing that helps to secure the bar. This chainsaw needs to be re-engineered. It just not a durable saw even for light jobs. I would definitely would not purchase this saw. Unfortunately, I waited too long to use it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and review! We greatly appreciate your honest feedback as it gives us a better understanding of where we need to improve. There are multiple reason why the chain could keep popping off. Chain is too tight, chain is not positioned correctly on bar, There could be build up of dust and debris, the chain over heated and caused it to stretch Please check out our self-help options on our website at https://www.worx.com/contact?openByDefault=true. If you are unable to find the answer to your questions, our chat team is available Monday through Friday from 9 am until 6 pm EST. It will be our pleasure to assist you! Thank you for choosing WORX!

Q: I Have a 12 battery chainsaw. after I cut a few branches the chain falls off. whats the problem?

  • A: Hello Valued Worx Customer! The best way to ensure the chain is properly installed on your chainsaw is to follow these directions. When installing a new chain, wrap the chain around the bar and sprocket. Pull the bar out stretching the chain. Continue holding the bar out while attaching the casing to the chainsaw. New chains will go through a period of stretching. I recommend checking the tension after 3-5 cuts and re-tensioning if necessary. To re-tension your chainsaw, turn the tensioner knob counterclockwise at least 3-4 times then turn the tensioner knob clockwise until the chain is tensioned. To determine if the chain is properly tensioned, you can pull the chain up in the center of the upper edge of the bar. If you can see a tiny sliver of light between the bar and chain, then it is tensioned properly. If you see no light, it is too tight, a lot of light means it is not tensioned enough. If you are unable to get the chain to tension with these steps, go back to the beginning and re-install the chain.

Q: Will it cut through Tree Roots ?

Originally posted on worx.com

1 Answer
  • A: Hello there. We do not recommend using the saw to cut tree roots. Cutting on or near the ground puts you at risk of sinking the bar into the dirt. Dirt can dull the blades and damage the chain, which you want to avoid at all costs. If cutting on or near the ground is something you need to do frequently, you might want to consider the 20V JawSaw Cordless Chainsaw. It has a much safer design than your standard chainsaw, and the jaws allow you to cut near the ground without having to worry about hitting the dirt with the blade. Should you have any additional questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact our Solution Center Team at 866-354-9679 Monday through Friday from 9 am until 6 pm EST. We'd be more than happy to assist you.
