Woods Compact AA Powerbank

Purchased 2 of these Woods Powerbanks as I have many AA Rechargeable Batteries. Tested with 4 x 2300mA Nimh installed. Ran a 4" USB Fan on Low (200mA draw) running the Fan for 3.75 hours before turning it off. I was able to continue using the same batteries in the Woods with a small USB Reading Light or as a flash light. I RECOMMEND it, perfect for Camping to run a Fan, & LED Lights. Use Good Quality Alkaline or High Capacity Nimh Batteries (e.g. 2300mA). I would rate it 5 stars if it had a small Power on LED.

Will not charge a cellphone whatsoever

While plugged in my battery doesn't seem to drain if I don't use my phone but the percentage won't go up at all, and the battery continues to drain more if a do use my phone, not very useful at all

Piece of cr*p, didn’t have enough power to charge one cell phone and the start-stop button didn’t work. We took it back for a full refund!

Perfect for driving low power devices

This Woods power bank powers low power devices that regular power banks can't because the device doesn't draw enough power to keep the circuit open. I got this to power a USB powered clock, and use four rechargeable 4000 mwh AA batteries.

A: The package says that it is water resistant. Water-resistant: able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely.

Q: Can I use this to charge rechargeable AA batteries?

A: That wouldn't make sense to recharge AA batteries with it. It requires 4 AA as the power supply you could just use the 4 AA batteries in it instead of losing power transferring it to rechargeable batteries.

A: I tested it with NIMH rechargeable AA's to see if it would charge my tablet. It charged the tablet from 62% to 78% before I disconnected it. Next I connected it to a power bank that has a built in meter. The power bank had 92% of charge when I connected it. The meter indicated that the NIMH batteries would only charge the power bank at .1 to .2 amps. When I replaced the NIMH batteries with the supplied Energizer Alkalines it supplied 1 to 1.1 amps. So in an emergency it will charge with rechargeables (either NIMH or Nicad) but very slowly and it probably will never fully charge your device.

Q: Does this boost voltage to 5V if used with NiMH batteries? What is the current output?

A: It has not been tested with NiMH batteries yet. But in theory,it cannot boost voltage to 5V if used with NiMH batteries. The current output is 800mA-1A.
