DO NOT PURCHASE

These are poorly cast, with a very rough surface and multiple casting flaws. I took a look through all of the ones at the the store and failed to find even a half decent one. Pay just a bit more and buy a Lodge Dutch Oven that you will be proud to own and use for a lifetime and beyond.
No, I do not recommend this product.

I've only used the Dutch oven a handful of times so far I'm noticing a big difference in my sourdough bread much more consistent with baking and no scorched areas of the bread.

Elevated our camp meals

We took this dutch oven on a 2 week trip and it made all kinds of delicious foods over the fire, from blueberry pancakes to bacon and eggs to salmon, stuffed mushroom caps, peach cobbler. Functions as an oven with coals piled on the lid. The lid can also be used (a bit precariously, but we managed) as a frying pan on a camp stove. You can heat up the whole thing and then set it on the ground with your dessert to cook or warm while you eat supper. Keep it clean and oiled and it won't rust. Happy to get this on sale. The inside is 11.5" across the top and 5" deep, plenty big for a 5lb chicken.

A: The dutch oven is 8 quarts. I use it all the time in my oven, and on a gas stove, but have also used it on top of my wood stove for simmering, and right inside my wood stove for baking a pot roast as well. I now have an induction stove, and I cut the three feet off with a grinder, and it works on the induction stove as well.I have been very pleased with this dutch oven.

Q: How is a cast iron pot cleaned if you are not supposed to use soap?

A: Not cleaning cast iron with soap was advice from the 1900's due to soap of the time containing large amounts of lye. Modern dishwashing soap does not contain lye. Cast iron can and should be cleaned regularly with dish soap, and maintained with a very light coating of high temperature oil (avocado, grapeseed, etc) on cooking surfaces afterwards.
