Q: when the mattress is inflated, do I screw the valve shut? or leave it open? I inflated the mattress and closed the valve and then layed down on the mattress and when I got up and re-opened the valve, I can hear air filling up again. So sounds like some air had seeped out.

A: Once fully inflated you should screw the valve shut. Self-inflating mats are a layer of foam sandwiched inside an air tight shell with a valve. If you opened the valve after use it’s possible that some air was being sucked in as the foam expanded back to its natural position.

Q: What's the weight and R value?

A: We don’t have the R Value, however: 1. We use PU foam for our foam cores. 2. The PU is higher than average density for SI mats in general. We don’t know the specific R values for this foam, but it is higher density. 3. The weight of the foam core is 18kg/sq meter. 4. We use full 1” thick foam cores for our 1” mats, full 2” cores for the 2” mats, etc.
