Mauvaise qualité de fabrication

Ce pistolet à souder a une piètre qualité de fabrication. Le bouton de contact est mince et très fragile. Je ne recommande pas cet article.

Last one worked for over 40 years!

Great soldering gun. I had one exactly like it that lasted just over 40 years until I dropped it on cement. It was used for repairing electric fencers in a business and personal use. excellent product. Can't believe after all those years it is very close to the same unit.

Weller is not what it used to be

Two stars because it works as expected if/once you fix it, otherwise it would have been one star. The build quality is very bad, really unacceptable for a brand product. I've seen many no name products with better build quality. There was a lot of burr at the tip of the rods, where the soldering tip is attached to the rod, both on the inside, where the screws are supposed to fasten the soldering tip, and on the outside. The burr on the inside was big enough to prevent the screws from reaching the soldering tip and fasten it to the rod. I had to use a 1/4" drill bit to remove the burr, or else the soldering tip wouldn't be fastened to the rod and make a good electrical contact. Because of that, the soldering gun didn't work out of the box. The burr on the outside was sharp enough to hurt my finger and make a small wound. I didn't pay enough attention because I wasn't expecting it. Contrary to the description, there is no LED light. There are two small incandescent light bulbs with a built-in magnifying glass, like those that were used in pocket flashlights before the LED flashlights became a thing. And the light assembly is not fastened properly to the soldering gun body and really wobbly. I took the soldering gun apart and... OMG... it can make a short really easily. And if that doesn't happen, the wires will eventually break and then make a short. The transformer windings are loose, and some of them can move freely. And they will, because of the pulsating magnetic field, which is normal for any transformer. For that reason, a decent transformer should have resin over the windings or at least a few layers of adhesive tape to hold it together. But not this one. If you buy this, make sure you have the skills and determination to fix it yourself and do some of the stuff that the factory was supposed to do but didn't. Then it will work and maybe last a little longer. Considering the poor build quality, this is not worth even half of the price.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Does not deserve the name professional

I bought this Weller D550PKCSACP iron recently (at full price:$90), to desolder capacitor cans from an old radio chassis. I heated up very quickly, and did the job. However, that is the only compliment I can give. The power trigger has no detente/stop between heat settings. It's hit and miss. If you shake the device, the innards rattle around inside. Overall, it has a cheap feel to it. Maybe OK if bought at half-price.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: is this soldering gun appropriate for smaller electronic projects? For example, fixing input jacks on electric guitars.

2 Answers
  • A: No this is ridicliously overpowered for electronics, one could solder together one of those baskets made of heavy gauge wire with this type of soldering gun. You would be liable to burn straight through circuitboards and or plastic housing of electronics if you were to attempt delicate repairs with this one, you can get a basic soldering gun for that for $5 and its basically shaped like a fat pen.

Q: Does this unit still cycle at 1 minute on and 3 minutes off as older comments suggest?

1 Answer
  • A: Weller Soldering Guns are mandated by UL to operate on a 20% Duty Cycle of 1 Minute On and 4 Minutes Off. This has been the same duty cycle since the Weller guns came on the market in the early 1950’s.
