Q: Can the lid be opened by hand, or do you have to use the foot pearl? (Asking to see if a toddler could easily lift the lid open on their own)

A: You need to use the foot lever to open the can, you could pry it open from the lid but it would be very difficult, a toddler could not do it. The foot lever also requires a bit of pressure to open the lid, I don't think it could be opened by a toddler.

A: no need to be rude. i’ve recently bought a trash can that doesn’t open when there is very little weight in the bin, as well as won’t keep in smells. was hoping to replace with this, but won’t be buying now. thank you.

A: The lid will stay open when lifted to full upright, 90 degree position. If it is not doing that, check to see that the inner liner is positioned properly and the trash bag is not interfering with the lid lifting rod. As for the trash bag, insert the bag in the inner bucket. Pull the excess on the outside of the bucket tight and insert the excess in the hole in the back of the liner bucket to secure.
