A: Thank you for your question. This model features our intuitive CVT transmission and is operated with an accelerator pedal, just like driving a car. The farther you depress the pedal the faster you travel in either forward or reverse.

Q: I just purchased one of those lawnmowers. One ignition key was tied to the steering wheel. There was no spare in the owners manual bag. Does this tractor come with only one key? Even my push lawnmower and snowblower came with spare keys.

Q: Does the Troy bolt 17.5 have a oil filter

A: No it don't! There is two problems with the Troy. One is my wife is short and it's really hard to set on the seat and push the gas peddle, she has to use her tippy toes. That is with the seat up as far as it goes. The other thing is, when she goes over a grade she slides off the seat and it almost shuts off. It should have something like arm rest and the peddle should be back just enough so when short people can use it to.

A: As far as I know you do not change the transmission oil. there is no drain and no place to put new oil in. I far as I know the transmission has a grease in inside and requires the removal of the whole gear box and separate the two parts and re-stuff with grease. Not the job for the backyard mechanic unless you are good at taking things apart. Good luck

A: This is the second Troy bilt we have had and we have extremely hilly land. The first lasted 5 years and we got about 1000 hours on it before it died. But we did have to get the tranny fixed (warranty) on year two. The second we have only used about 50 hours and a pulley sheared right off of it. It's in for warranty work right now. So I think they are good machines but hang onto that receipt and remember there is a warranty on them.

A: A lawn tractor with a 42 inch cut would average about 1 hour per acre to cut; so the answer to your question would really depend on how much time you want to spend cutting. There are also variables such as terrain, trees, flower beds etc. which will slow you down. If you have more than 2 acres then I would suggest a mower with a deck larger than 50 inch cutting width and a larger engine.
