    Brand new, won't start

Bought in Nov. Went to use for the first time after a large dump in Dec and it won't start. Spent 30 mins going back and forth trying to trouble shoot with online videos and leaving me to call a small engine repair guy. Had to shovel like normal anyways. Assuming it's carburetor issue but who knows at this point. Videos seeming to imply this is a enough of a known issue.

The machine works fine once thawed out. Cables for the shoot always freeze up.

Q: Very difficult to put into reverse #2. Is it possible it came with the wrong length of cable? In reverse #2 cable is VERY taught - will eventually either snap or stretch. Any suggestions?

Q: re.TROYBUILT 272cc ,28in. sno blower with electric/manual start.HOW DOES ONE START IT BY ELECTRIC MODE.? By110volt conectiion with a standard extension cord or ??

    4 Answers
    • A: Thank you for your question. Simply plug an outdoor extension cord rated for 15 amps and 125 volts into the electric start switch on the snow thrower - and a ground fault protected outlet at the house, then press the start button. Once the engine is started remove the extension cord. Please refer to the engine owners manual for steps to prime, choke, start and run the engine. Use fresh ethanol-free gasoline for reliable starts. It is recommended to add a quality fuel stabilizer such as STA-BIL® or StarTron® to your gas container before purchasing fuel to ensure trouble free starting of any outdoor power equipment especially after seasonal storage.

Q: Bought 3 weeks ago, have not used, moved it the other day and there was a small oil stain on garage floor. Moved it waited a day and another stain. Is this normal? Should I return?

    3 Answers
    • A: No that is definitely not normal. I for sure would return it. Is it oil? Check the bottom of the machine for signs of oil leaks . Sometimes the factory will spray a rust inhibitor for delivery . Just a thought.! My unit has had no problems.

Q: What to do now that all grades of gas contain ethanol?

    2 Answers
    • A: Thank you for your question. For reliable starts and best performance in all snowblowers, add a quality fuel stablilizer like Star-Tron or Sta-Bil (Canadian Tire items 060-6412-0 or 038-0908-4) to your gas container each time before filling it. Purchase smaller quantities of fuel that you might consume within 90 days.

Q: can the snow blower be used on a gravel driveway ?

    2 Answers
    • A: Yes, the black plastic pieces at bottom of snow collector area are like skis. They are adjustable. Just set them higher and periodically check them as they may wear down or come out of adjustment depending on how the machine is handled. Example dropping it on drum area several times.

    • A: I have not searched for a video on this, however it is easy to start. Plug in the cord for power start ,adjust your throttle lever to start and push the start button. to turn off , move start button to lowest position and it turns off. Canadian tire should have chains for this
