Small unit which is nice for a small footprint on the counter but also means that you’re cooking in small amounts. Cooking takes very little time and there is very little splash. The system breaks down easily for cleaning and the oil strains and stores easily. The cord connects magnetically and can disconnect quickly if pulled rather than pulling the cooker off of the counter. The sides don’t get too hot. I appreciate the safety features. Overall I like this item and use it relatively often.

T-fal EZ Clean Pro Compact Deep Fryer w/ Oil Filter

This deep fryer is excellent. When the oil has cooled down, you can drain and filter it through the included filter into the sealed storage tank at the bottom. The fryer can then be rinsed out, and when you're ready to use it again, you can put the stored oil back into the fryer. Since the unit removes most debris when drained, you have clean oil for frying once more. I have owned several deep fryers over the years, and this is the BEST one I have EVER seen and purchased!

A: Yes it does, You simply squeeze the middle part and it can remove the handle or have it fold.

Q: does it seal? i have a older deep fryer buy it doesnt seal so there is always the chance of the oil boiling over, and oil always goes all over the place

A: The removable cover does a good job keeping splashing to a minimum, especially if lowering the basket with the lid on. It won't seal if you overfill the unit.

Q: Can you use solid fat or does it have to be oil? ie. Crisco vegetable shortening

A: Why no use solid fats. Having said that, the drainage (holding) container is not designed for solid fats, as it is a sealed container having a tiny drain hole. It is made of a soft plastic.

Q: How do I convince the oil to drain? The first I bought wouldn't drain, exchanged - same problem. Is there a special trick I can use? The manual is quiet about this.

A: I drain the oil while it's still warm and you also have to push the red button up on the bottom of the drain before refilling and reusing the fryer.Maybe to make sure it's reset or not clogged.( Oil warm not hot)

A: For the EZ Clean Compact Adjustable thermostat starts at 150C (302F) and goes up to 190C (374F). My actual experience : starts at 120C (248F) and only attained 160C (320F).

A: Its 8.5" wide at the base and 14 inches front to back with the basket handle folded into the basket. Its 13.5 inches high at the back control panel.

A: It's a stainless, domed mesh filter that is attached to the inside of the bowl. Not sure if it is supposed to come off. Cleans with the bowl itself.
