Make sure you have an allen key

Why does it not say anywhere that you need an allan key. I was already at canadian tire. Where i could have bought one…. But instead i am fighting for my life trying to put this together without an allan key because there was no single indication that you needed one. Also why are there no instructions besides a couple of photos? What good is that!! What is the point of that!! If i didn’t need a rear rack so bad i would literally set this on fire and throw it off a cliff.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Rear bicycle cargo rack

High quality, light weight rear carrier. Installation is easy if your bike comes with the standard attachment points on the frame. Inexpensive bike may not be equipped for this rack. I installed it on my Trek F1. You’ll need some tools. CRV 5, 3 mm Allen keys, 10 & 7 mm wrench or small adjustable wrench. These aren’t explained in the installation instructions so you have to figure it out yourself. It also helps to have a stable support to hold the bike steady while you work.

Installation is confusing and frustrating

Seems to be sturdy, but the only installation instructions are those printed on the box, and they border on being incomprehensible. They're close-up line drawings of *some* parts of a bike frame and the carrier, with perspective distortions that make them not appear to match any real things. Orientations of the parts to be assembled are unclear. Nuts and bolts have to be left loose during assembly to allow the thing to be adjusted to fit the bike frame, and things keep falling apart. Requires a set of *metric* hex keys / Allen keys to install, as well as pliers or other gripping tools to hold the nuts.

A pain to assemble but seems to work

This thing comes with extremely minimal instructions and confusing hardware. There is no indication of what tools you will need to assemble it and none are included. I got it assembled and installed eventually but 3 additional trips to Canadian Tire were required. For the price it seems to work well enough but I wish I’d bought one with better instructions.
