Brand new is broken

I bought this last year but did not use it until recent and it does not even work, when i try to pull down the starter it doesnt stay on and it goes back up

I am on my second one, as I have my first one to my kids. I love this toaster. I've had mine now for about 7.5 years and still going strong.
I like the sleek design and how little space it takes up.

The button has always taken a couple of times before it will engage. Now it takes as many times as 6-8 before it will stay engaged.

Got one lasted a year and half my elements burnt out now it's like as if it were on bagel mode all the time but if I put it on bagel it just doesent toast
