After much researching various Jon boats I settled on the Sun Dolphin. Overall the boat was described as a solid and stable. That’s a correct statement. It comes ready to go but is easily upgraded with available items, like swivel seat. Add the motor of choice and get out on the water. The service from CTC was excellent!

Q: what size oars for the 12 ft sun dolphin?

A: According to one formula, if your boat is 4 feet wide at the oarlock, you’ll need oars between 5.5 and 6 feet long. I believe the Sun Dolphin is 4 feet wide. I use a trolling motor on mine.

Q: Can this boat retrieve ducks from small ponds where water is too shallow and only a few feet deep? I don't plan on using motor at all.

A: I have used it in shallow water, would depend on how much weight is in it. Perhaps with only 1 person it would be light enough
