Great Binoculars!

I bought them as a gift for a friend and found them to be a great pair of binoculars. Before the actual purchase I had compared them with a number of other binoculars in the same price range and found them to be superior. After the purchase I compared with my own personal pair {a VERY respected brand} and again found them to be superior. Should my own pair ever need to be replaced, this is the pair I would buy.

Love my Steiners! I bought them while on vacation and I use them daily. I've had other popular brand names. They cannot compare to the Steiners in clarity and quality. Only complaint is the case...had to make a return after the first day because the inside was coming apart. Second case...the third day after first return, the belt loop stitching came loose. But the binoculars themselves are worth the money...don't let the case quality sway your decision.

Don't buy Steiner.

Steiner has an excellent reputation, but regrettably the quality belongs to the past.
After 2 years of very occasional use, I have to send back my Steiner 8x22 to the importer for repair and/or adjust the diopter compensation: Impossible to have a clear vision with both eyes. The problem was since the purchase, I received Steiner 8x22 in present.
I thus sent the STEINER to my expenses at the importer in Canada, according to their instructions with description of the problem: WHAT A PITIFUL EXPERIENCE !! After approximately two months of wait, without any piece of news or information (and several e-mails without answer) the importer finally answered me that they had been sent in Colorado for repair, without any form of basic politeness.
Approximately 6 months later I received my Steiner 8x22... not repaired. They are absolutely NOT repaired ! The ONLY difference: the rubber-cover of the diopter wheel adjustment it's now unstuck , and turns endlessly. Binoculars were unsettled, they are now broken.
The importer asks me to send back again to them!!! At my expenses!!!! Never ever!!! I shall find rather an independent workshop.
SO, AVOID STEINER BRAND, THEIR REPUTATION BELONGS TO THE PAST
No, I do not recommend this product.

That is not the normal repair process or procedure. Something went wrong with your repair, and we apologize and need to take care of that. Because your review is anonymous, we need you to reach out to us. Please contact info@steiner-optics.com, and we will handle everything. Steiner is a German company, with the US headquarters and repair facility in Colorado. Canadian sales are handled through our Canadian distributor, and as you note, they do rely on the US branch for repairs. This note is coming straight from Steiner USA.
