Stainless Steel 20 Gauge Wire
a year ago
I wanted the clean steel wire to make an archival package that would last centuries without corroding. No mention was made about its plastic coating intended to increase flexibility, so I can't use it.

This might be good for snare wire but I tried to use it for safety wire. It's weaker than the smaller sized galvanized wire I tried before it.

20 gauge steel wire

What can be said about stainless steel wire? I used it to fix my wife's recliner, and it's doing the job well.
The most difficulty with it is keeping it from unraveling, but that's within my expectations. I applied a few zip ties, and it's pretty well secure.
Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: is this stainless steel wire galvanised?

A: No, this is not galvanized. If it were, it would have a zinc coating and be colored similar to the inside of a tin food can. A kind of duller, grey finish. Plus, it would say "galvanized" on the packaging.

A: This is 20 gauge or AWG wire. Also known as 0.81mm wire.
