Great rack at a great price

Great kayak rack for up to two kayaks or single one in flat mode.. drove it across NL with two on without a hitch. Recommend buying some decent rachet straps though for peace of mind vs ones provided in box - and you do need the cross roof brackets on your vehicle to mount these

Adjustable two kayaks rack
Easy enough to install. Takes some monkey bar tricks to mount them on my racks. Didn’t fasten to existing rack too tight because a one star review complained about plastic wing nut breaking after a year. Plus it’s easy to keep upright with two kayaks on with gentle push. One man jog loading two inexpensive SOT kayaks. Black straps work okay. They tangle with opposite straps but still are adjustable. My SUV doesn’t tie down in front. Used tie down ropes to tie nose to tail on opposite side of rack. Worked after twenty minutes drive. Lots of long bolts of two sizes.

Waste of money. 1 yr usage

I was so happy with this purchase last year. Went to use them this year and the knob that tightens the central arm broke. It's made of plastic and cheap. I do not recommend this product due to this design flaw. It makes it unusable and now I have to spend money on another option.

Solid kayak holders, changed out the straps supplied for regular tiedowns. Works better for us.

Q: Hello
Would this item work with 2 Pelican kayaks, 1 Sentinel Angler 100 and 1 Magna 100?
How does wind factor affect the performance? If travelling at 100km/hr with sideway gust winds of 40km/hr as we have in the prairies.
Thank you.

A: Intried the setting as per manufacturer and it didn't work well. Yes kayaks shifted as speed increased.
Ended using it as suggested with seats inside and I was able to drive 110 without problems.

Q: How do people get the kayaks sideways on the racks?? The way we have figured out requires the ability to lift the kayak with arms over head and neither of us has the ability to do this( yes we are standing on a large stepstool.

A: I had the same problem. I did find a you tube video demonstrating a one person lift where you prop the kayak up and then push from the end. You need to protect the roof of your car with towels. Good luck!

Q: Will this attach to a 2011 Honda Pilot with factory installed crossbars? I checked online and the website says "Rack Required: FIT TIP". I don't understand what that means.

A: This isn’t an exact answer, I have a 2003 Honda CRV with aftermarket low bars on the factory spots. The only thing was the bottom part where it pivots tapped on my roof at highway speed. I just stacked a few washers in so it wouldn’t make noise against my roof and it was only the front of the bracket for the front hook not the rear clamp or the rear rack at all. As for what it says online regarding fit tip that I’m not sure of. Hope this helps In some way

Q: Is there any type of locking system that can be used to secure this rack to my 2011 Honda pilot factory installed roof rack to prevent someone from stealing it when I am away from the vehicle ?

A: No. Nor can you reliably lock things on your roof rack. We leave our roof rack on year round, but we live in a smaller community. Even then I’ve caught thieves gazing up at my Paddleboard not realizing I was sitting at a picnic table watching them.

A: You need crossbars on your vehicle to attach the rack to. It's universal and fits on most crossbars.

Q: In the description it says "2 x kayak side stacker". Which sounds like it will hold 2 kayaks at a time, But you answered a previous question with " This product is designed to carry one kayak at a time."
Can you clarify this?

A: The SportRack Mooring 4-in-1 watersport carrier can be used to carry two smaller kayaks with the centre bar in the upright position. Larger sea style kayaks tend to not fit as well versus smaller lake style kayaks.

It says it will carry 2 kayaks..
I have 2-10ft Pelican kayaks....will i be able to transport them using this carrier? Understanding you do not know if the carrier will mount to my 2015 Toyota Rav

A: I have a 2002 Rav4 with factory roof-rack. Fits securely, once I figured out to use the shorter bolts. I carry 2 10 Pelicans (36lbs each) and the roof-rack crossbars flex slightly and the upright centre bar just touches the roof. I might make an adjustment to them..

A: Thanks for checking with Thule. Not directly to the factory installed crossbars. It would need the Thule 710401 Thule Evo Crossbars foot pack and 711300 Thule Evo WingBars.
