Use to smooth bead of silicone caulk with finger.

Mineral spirits helps to soften old caulk, making it easier to scrape away. Then when applying new caulk with high silicone content, dip finger in mineral spirits to smooth bead. Just noticed Mineral Spirits Substitute (https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/solvable-mineral-spirits-substitute-946-ml-0497105p.html), which is low VOC and has higher flash point.

    Yes, I recommend this product.

Purchase the mineral spirits to clean up after a paint job of the pool. Was actually looking for a larger container ~ but there was none on the shelf, so had to purchase a small one.

Q: Is it safe on granite counter tops

    2 Answers
    • A: I have only used the mineral spirits on metal, glass and old caulking to prepare surfaces for painting, installing double sided tape and new caulking. However, mineral spirits is an excellent cleaner; therefore, it could be a good product to try cleaning with if the options are limited moving forward based on past cleaning attempts with other cleaners. I’d suggest to maybe try a test cleaning on the granite in a location out of the way and see how mineral spirits acts with the surface and then maybe tackle the cleaning location with the mineral spirits. Good luck
