This rubber carpetting is not fancy but it does work well for us. It is soft under our feet and it installs easily. Only thing is the smell, we've had it for a week not and it does still smell like rubber. I hope it goes away with time. Otherwise satisfied with the product

We purchased four packages of these when they were on sale two weeks ago. They are all going back. The off-gassing is horrendous. The odour permeated throughout the entire house - smells like a bad petroleum product. The product was a black background with a blue fleck so I wonder if they were a replacement from the manufacturer. We kept them in the house for 10 days hoping the smell would go away, but even with the door shut to the room and a towel under the door, the smell was still coming through the air vent. I will be so glad to get them out of here.

Q: Are the rubber fumes from these mats toxic? Do they release benzene fumes?

A: Te foam does not contain benzene. The glue that is used does contain small amounts of benzene, but it volatilizes during the heating process. Therefore the smell is not from benzene, it is intrinsic to the rubber/foam and will dissipate after the mats are aired out.
