Great Spreader

After decades of use, my spreader finally needed to be replaced. I did not hesitate to buy this same model. The edge guard lets you walk right beside your gardens without getting fertilizer in them. it's lightweight and durable.

When seeding grass the right wheel catches the seed making it a very uneven pattern

We're sorry to read about your disappointment with Scotts Turf Builder Edgeguard DLX Broadcast Spreader and appreciate your feedback.

Please check that the rotor, gearbox or agitator is not bent or damaged. When applying, if you do not walk fast enough, the spreader will not fling the product properly and will potentially hit the wheels. All of our broadcast spreaders underwent a design change at the end of 2020 that changed rotor angle and changed the agitator back to a 2-wing agitator. These changes reduces the potential for the product to hit the wheels.

We want you to be confident in our products. For this reason, we offer a product guarantee. If for any reason you, the consumer, are not satisfied with the results after using this product, you are entitled to get your money back. Limitations apply. At your earliest convenience, please reach out to us at 866-436-7645 if we can further assist. Scotts

Q: at what setting do does the spreader need for 2kg / 100 sq ft ?

1 Answer
  • A: Spreader settings are based on the physical size of the product being applied. If the product you are using does not list a spreader setting for this spreader, we recommend that you do your own test. To test: Place enough material in the hopper to cover 1000 square feet. Set this spreader on 1/4 of the spreader setting range. Spreader the material over a 50ft x 20ft area (1000 sq ft). If there is material left over, increase the setting. If the material is short, decrease the spreader setting. While this is not a scientific method, it will help to make sure that you are getting adequate coverage. Also, consider calling the manufacture of the product you are using to find out if they have any additional spreader settings.

Q: what is the rate of spreading guide mean with other products i want to spread lime that is not a scotts product

1 Answer
  • A: The higher the number of the setting the larger the opening that allows product out. If the product you wish to apply has a Scotts SpeedyGreen spreader setting you may use that spreader setting. We do have some general settings for lime depending on how many pounds of lime per 1000 square feet you wish to apply. When using lime in this spreader: (please note these settings are approximate and should not be used for application of products other than lime.) 30 pounds per 1000 sq. ft. use a Setting of 10 40 pounds per 1000 sq. ft. - use a setting of 7.5 and go over the area twice 50 pounds per 1000. - Use a setting of 7 go over the area three times
