Pretty...and that's it.

I bought this in the summer of 2020. It was so pretty and comfortable to ride. BUT it was squeaky and clunky and misaligned. After some adjustments, it was as good as it gets, which was still very squeaky and clunky. As of today, I have had 4 flat tires. 3 in the back and one in the front. Last week, the derailleur got caught in a spoke and got twisted up and around into the metal holding the fender on the bike and the metal holding the bike rack on the back. It was determined that the derailleur wasn't installed quite right, by Canadian Tire or it slipped over time. That said, it was the 5th time I had to carry my VERY HEAVY bike home and I was done. The only reason this review has any stars is because it was comfortable to sit on. I do NOT recommend this bike.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Terrible quality. Faulty derailleur

I bought this on Sept 26 and just had to return it after having it at the store for repairs since I bought it. The handlebars and wheel were off center, it squeaked half of the ride home, and it wouldn't change gears properly. After their second attempt at repairs, it was still skipping from 4th to 6 or 7th gear. I love the look of this bike and desperately wanted it to be fixed. Not very impressed at all.

Absolute Garbage

I bought this bike in July 2015. I rode it once and had such a hard time that I put it away never wanting to touch it again. I took it out this May determined to use it regularly and upon closer inspection I realized the gear shifter was stuck on 7th gear (explaining why it was so difficult to ride in 2015). You could click it back to 1st gear but had to hold it, otherwise it just flew back to 7th. I emailed and called the manufacturer for warranty help as noted in the review responses below THREE times and never heard back. I ended up buying a gear shifter myself and having it installed. It works fine now but the bike is still a clunky piece of garbage. Not Canadian Tire's fault but I do not recommend this bike.

Do not waste your money!

Horrible bike! This bike might look nice but that's about it! The very first ride I took on it I got a flat tire. After bringing it to get fixed I got a second flat tire on my way home from the bike shop. This is absolutely ridiculous. To add to it the chain keeps falling off, gears stick, the bike is extremely heavy and can't handle any elevations and the whole time you are riding it (if you are lucky enough to not have a flat) it makes horrible noises (like it is about to fall apart). On top of it Canadian Tire is clueless in how to put a bike together (as was verified by a third party bike mechanic) however once the faulty assembled bike leaves the store they offer no further assistance. Schwinn who manufactures this piece of garbage in the first place will ignore your emails and calls. Do yourself a favour and don't waste your money on this! It will only add stress to your life

Looks can be deceiving!

I fell in love with this slick and dope looking ride, so stylin, classy and a very comfortable seat. However the good about this bike ends there. Unless you like: parting with hundreds of your hard earned cash. Being stranded far from home due to tires that can’t hold air, and continually pop inner tubes. Having zero customer service or help from Canadian Tire who will not offer you an exchange, store credit or refund, not their prob after it’s been out for a ride. Canadian Tire wasn’t even concerned by its garbage frame and design. They make minor adjustments which can’t fix a hunk of junk! The manufacturer Schwinn will NOT return your calls or emails to address the concerns of your useless piece of junk bike collecting dust in the back of your shed! I don’t write reviews, I don’t put much stock in reviews! Please take this review seriously don’t be fooled by how slick and stylish it is. Schwinn used to manufacture top of the line bicycles, now it’s top of the line price for flimsy bent garbage. I have never made such a bad purchase as this bike!

Q: Can you attach a children bike trailer to this bike? Thank you

  • A: I don’t think so. I think the bag holder on the back would make it hard.

Q: how does this bike handle steep hills? Can I put a basket on the handlebars?

3 Answers
  • A: I can't speak to the steep hills question as I haven't tried it on them yet but as far as a basket goes try the ones in store on it before purchasing. I tried the wicker basket by Everyday and it did not fit, the handlebar is too thick. Saddlebags also do not hook onto the existiing rack on the back. I will replace the rack with a functional one.

  • A: It is printed on the back seat 22 pounds only. my four year old is 38 pounds. He sat on the back but he has no place to put his feet so it was uncomfortable for him. Anyways we just tried it for fun because he has his own bike.

Q: Does this bike handle well on dirt/gravel roads? Or is it primarily a city bike. Ty In reference to the Schwinn Womens Sanctuary 7

  • A: Hello Tinlizzy: Although it is not a mountain bike the tires are wide enough for dirt or gravel roads within reason. As with any unstable surface caution is the best policy! This is true of a mountain bike as well. Hope this is of value! Dennis

2 Answers
  • A: Hello, The tires are about 1/3/4". If you put a larger tire you would have to consider the brake allowance in the calipers. If you want larger tires I would suggest a mountain bike! Hope this helps! Dennis
