Not as washable as they say

I have this carpet in my laundry/mud room. It gets dirty, as we walk into that space with shoes and boots. I have washed it once, and not all the dirt came out. Also, the design seems to have smuged on the carpet and is beginning to lift. I wouldn't buy this design again as it shows all the dirt.
