Lots of fun for creative kids

I found this in the weekly Clearance Flyer, and figured I would take a chance, as my 5 year-old grandson enjoys train sets. It was a big hit. He played an entire afternoon with it, finding lots of creative ways to use the many parts. He even dismantled it himself and put it back together (another creative way to play with it). Pieces are reasonably well made, and assembly is quite easy. Track pieces are not as well made as Brio, but they work. The mountain is slightly fiddly, in that there is only one orientation of the five wooden pieces that correctly locks everything together, but even the incorrect orientations are quite stable and playable. High play value, especially at the clearance price.

Good idea, poor durability

The ideas here -- the mountain and flippable tabletop -- are good. Unfortunately, someone tried to save manufacturing costs by making parts where table legs attach out of MDF, rather than wood. That makes the table less durable than it could be. We bought 2 for our sons, and one broke during the first weekend when it wasn't even being played with very roughly. Had to make a replacement for the broken part to make it usable again (see pic).
No, I do not recommend this product.

The big ideas behind this set -- the mountain centerpiece and the flippable tabletop -- are good. Unfortunately, someone tried to save manufacturing costs by making the parts where the table legs attach out of MDF, rather than wood. That makes the table nowhere near as durable as it could be. We bought 2 of these for our sons, and one broke during the first weekend when it wasn't even being played with very roughly or anything. I had to make a replacement for the broken part to make it usable again.

Pieces of the puzzle broke and splintered off.

My grandson loved it immediately. However a couple of pieces frayed. Now the track is hard to stay connected. Im also afraid he may get a splinter or worse.

Would not recommend

This didnt last 2 days. The design with the table does not work right so the track is always falling off the table. It would not even be fun for one child as it side to much a crossed the table and ends up on floor.
