Product Defect? No Accountability from Store

I bought a Raleigh bike from this store on April 27 for my wife. On June 3, the rear tire suddenly burst while inflating to 50psi—well within the recommended 40–65psi range. On the first day, I inflated both tires to around 52–53psi with no issue. A few weeks later, the rear tire felt slightly deflated, so I reinflated it to around 50psi when it suddenly burst. The bike had been ridden fewer than five times in under five weeks, only by my wife and under normal use. Based on this, I believe the tire may have had a manufacturer defect. I called the store that day and was told the repair would be covered under warranty—even though it had been just over 30 days. The staff said the one-week difference wouldn’t matter, so I walked nearly 40 minutes pushing the bike to the store. Once I arrived, I explained the full situation in detail. But all I was told was that the tire and tube aren't covered, and the repair would be done Saturday—with no idea how much it would cost. After being told over the phone it would be covered, this felt completely misleading. No one explained any warranty exclusions at the time of purchase. To make things worse, the loud tire burst caused pain in my left ear, and I now have a doctor’s appointment. If this had happened while my wife was riding, she could have been seriously injured. Would Canadian Tire still say that’s not their responsibility? What upsets me most isn’t the money—it’s the way I was treated. I acted in good faith, trusted what I was told, and was left feeling dismissed and disrespected. I expected better from Canadian Tire.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Waste of Money

First ride, didn't even get to the end of my street before the right peddle broke. The frame of the bike start squealing. With taxes almost $500 down the drain as Canadian Tire refuses to refund. Apparently bikes are final sale, so if the sell you a lemon, too bad so sad for you. They pocket your hard earn cash, you get something for the landfill. They've lost a customer for life. Too bad since, I've been on the whole "buy Canadian bandwagon".

No, I do not recommend this product.

  • A: We’d recommend you have a bike department associate at your local Canadian Tire store help you with this. When installing a child seat make sure you pay attention to safety warnings and cautions that are in the child seat manual prior to riding.

  • A: Oui, il s'agit d'un vélo de confort d'excellente qualité. La conception de ce vélo privilégie le confort plutôt que la vitesse, mais il peut certainement parcourir de longues distances et dispose de 7 vitesses pour vous aider dans les montées.
