Second broken rod

I have recently broken the tip of the second rod in as many months. Not out of misuse either. Both tips have broken off halfway between the first and second eyelet. both rods did not get that much use either, maybe once every week or two.
The reel was good however

A: No I would not recommend this for a downrigger. it is not quite stiff enough unless running light tackle
