    Leviton PVC connector

Although the size is a little bit big to fit in the trimmer socket etc., yet it saves me to abandon my end cut damaged 100 ft. extension cord and makes it useful again.

    Questions

    1 - 1 of 1 Question

Q: This is a 20A connector. The photo is of a 15A connector, which has a different pin configuration. This 20A connector is is not compatible with a standard household 15A plug.

    • A: The standard 15A plug we're all familiar with (a NEMA 5-15) is compatible with this receptacle. This receptacle is ALSO compatible with the 20A version called the NEMA 5-20. The slightly larger neutral prong (usually on the left when looking at the outlet)* is on the same side of both plugs. The 15A plug's neutral prong is vertical while the 20A's prong is horizontal. This, and most other 20A outlets have a -| shaped opening that will accommodate either. It's visible in the photo but you may have to squint. * They were originally supposed to be installed upside down - with the ground prong at the top, to help protect the hot prong from accidental contact - and you'll still see them installed that way sometimes at healthcare, industrial and and government facilities. Larger power adapters don't want to sit that way so we started installing them the other way around. The Canadian Electrical Code doesn't mandate any particular orientation for typical residential construction.
