    Online system is atrocious

Couldn't figure out how to open an online account, so went to my local Canadian tire where no one knew how to sign someone up for an online account. So went home and phoned the online help line and it still took almost 2hrs to get an account even with help and numerous restarts. Had ordered 2 of these batteries, 1 came within the allotted time, the other a month after I was able to order it

    1 - 10 of 11 Questions

Q: What is the CCA rating on this battery? My existing John Deere battery is labelled CCA500 and I have to start the tractor at minus 30 C.

    • A: There is no CCA rating for this battery, if u need a small AGM battery can I suggest a Group 35, Sku #10-3520 from Canadian tire. It should be small enough for your tractor in -30C.

    Q: Why no core charge?

    1 Answer
    • A: Correct, Canadian Tire does not currently have a core charge on this battery. However, our stores will gladly accept your old/scrap lead-acid battery(s) and ensure they are sent for recycling.

Q: Is this suitable for a Fortress 1700 Scooter

    1 Answer
    • A: Potentially. The scooter manufacturer/dealer will have installed different batteries depending on the model and options/accessories installed. Best to check the specifications noted on the original batteries. The battery size will be either Group U1 (approx. 7" long) or Group 22NF (approx. 9" long). Once you've determined the correct size, you'll need to confirm if the original batteries are AGM type or Gel type. (You must match your batteries to the battery charger you have. Your charger may be designed for AGM batteries only, or Gel batteries only, or may allow you to select from the two. Using the charger on the wrong type of battery will dramatically shorten battery life.) Group U1 - AGM 010-2051 or Gel 010-1102 Group 22NF - AGM 010-2045 or Gel 010-1100 Both scooter batteries must be replaced at the same time.

Q: Are the terminals on the picture the same as on the real battery? It may save me a trip to the store

    1 Answer
    • A: Yes, the image is of the actual battery. This battery has offset posts with a horizontal hole, stainless steel 5/16" bolt, and hex nut.

Q: I’ve been told that if 2 batteries are connected together, all positive connections will not line up and must do so. I know odd question but. Too me positive is positive. Anything to be where of. Thanks Grunt.

    • A: Hello, I believe you are referencing connecting 2 batteries in either series or parallel. If you hook up two batteries in series (clamp positive of one battery to the negative of the other battery) you will double the voltage (two 12 volt batteries = one 24 volt battery). If you hook the batteries up in parallel (clamp positive to positive/negative to negative) you will double the capacity (two batteries with 85 RC = one battery with 170RC) but the voltage remains at 12. Hope this helps.

Q: My 700 Watt Motomaster Eliminator Power Box battery (i think they come with 12v 28Ah 20hr battery inside) is dead and wont hold a charge above 60% - i would like to replace it and upgrade to a bigger better battery.... can i use this inside it ?

    1 Answer
    • A: Hi. Not sure exactly which model you have but it's probably a 28 Ah or 33 Ah battery. This 55 Ah is definitely waaay too big to fit inside the power pack. Unfortunately we do not sell a replacement battery as there isn't much demand (generally people will find that the price of just a replacement battery isn't much less than buying a new power pack on sale). You could, however, simply use this battery (or any number of other 12V lead acid batteries) chained as an external battery, via the boosting cables.

Q: (12v 55ah Group 22NF SLA Battery ) can I order 2 batteries that are not in stock and pick them up at the store

    1 Answer
    • A: Absolutely. This is an uncommon battery so many stores choose not to stock it but rather order upon customer request - this ensures you get a "fresh" battery. Please call or visit your local CT store and ask them to order for you. Delivery normally takes 3-10 days.

Q: Is this battery approved by F.A.A. and D.O.T. for air and sea travel? I understand this can be used for a power wheelchair.

    1 Answer
    • A: This battery is considered “non-spillable” as defined by DOT (Department of Transportation), ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and IATA (International Air Transport Association) definitions. Yes, it is a common size for some power wheelchairs however you should check with the wheelchair manufacturer to see whether they recommend a gel battery or whether an AGM battery is suitable.
