Reliable so far

Bought this at end of season sale for less than fixing an old Husqvarna and it has reliably started and worked every time. Put a decent chain and bucking spike on her, will likely open up muffler and richen up mixture to prevent bog. Great saw for the price.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Perfect for all around work

I purchased this saw 3 months ago, and have put roughly 25-30 hours of heavy use on it cutting up fallen oak trees. This saw has performed without issue, I haven't had any issues with the starter cord like others here. The chain did come off once, but that's only because I hadn't kept it properly tightened. I finally have to sharpen the chain as it's getting hard to cut through the roughly 16" pieces that I have. I have no complaints with this chainsaw. If you take the time to actually follow the instructions provided, and use some common sense with your tools, you likely will have a good experience with this saw.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Waste of money

Used this chainsaw for about 10 minutes, it shut off and would not start again. Took it to the place that does the warranty work, they checked it over and said it was the spark plug which is not covered under the warranty . So it cost me over 30 dollars for a spark plug that lasted for 10 minutes. Saw still runs terrible, it keeps shutting off and is hard to start.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Poorly built

I have had this saw for a few years. In that time I have had to replace the oiler pump a few times. They are all plastic and do not last long. You will find that it stops pumping oil causing your chain and bar to burn out quickly. I have resulted in manually pouring oil directly onto the bar when I use this saw. Also this saw does not tolerate Canadian fuel, even when using only high grade fuel without ethanol the fuel filler cap expands to the point it will not screw on. I have replaced this twice with genuine parts and the replacements do the same thing. The fuel tube has the same issue, mine has not broken but it is extremely brittle, my Dad had the same saw and his cracked inside the fuel tank after less than a year. I will be shopping for a Husqvarna or a Stihl for a product that will last.

No, I do not recommend this product.

  • A: I bought the Poulan Pro 18" bar, 42cc motor. Started & cuts fine, but the chain oil pump went after 3-5 hours of use. Hopefully it was just a defect.

  • A: Warranty. These saws are junk, a few degrees of temp change will set them off again, yell loud enough you will get another, keep it up until you get offered a real brand saw.

Q: Carburetor Adjustment Tool The carburetor has a high and low set screw. Issue is the screw has a spline so you need a specialty tool to adjust the carb. Maybe consider selling them, because these saws are terrible without some tuning.

  • A: They are junk, adjust it and 2c change in temp tune it again, warranty it, if you yell loud enough you get a new one till it dies in 2-3 hours and you do it again.

Q: I just purchased a Poulan chain saw, 18 inch bar 42 cc, it doesn't have any power. the rpms drop when I give it full throttle, I am curious as to why this is happening? I used to have the 14 inch chain saw and I did not have any issues with it and decided to upgrade.
