cheaply made garbage

I bought this cheap pile of garbage thinking if I took care of it it should last a while. I bought it stritcly for camping season. bad choice on my part, the chain was completely dull and struggled to cut wood when I first used it. So I replaced the chain with an after market chain and it ran great for the summer. I put it away for the winter in my basement. Come next summer we go camping and I fire it up and half way through the first cut it stalled and would not fire up again. I replaced the fuel filter and everything I thought was causing the issues and still it would not fire up. so after troubleshooting and testing it turns out the ignition was dead. after emailing poulan they said they dont have ignitions for this saw. So I started searching the internet for a new ignition all I could find was a cheap chinese made one. I bought it installed it and it did not last more than one camping trip. the website would not take a return on a used ignition so now im stuck with a dead chainsaw that I cannot find parts for. Do not buy this low grade garbage, spend the extra few bucks and buy a brand that is built better and has available parts and a customer service that cares.

I have two of these now and never an issue. It's a 2 stroke, break in and always use synthetic 2 stroke oil. I'm yet to find problems with any Poulan Saws have the 38 model and I Alaskan milled dry fir no problems.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Hard to start up

Hard to start, spark plug not properly adjusted from manufacturer. No proper way to get a half chock, it's either all or nothing. What's so hard to adopt a similar system as Stihl?

No, I do not recommend this product.

Q: Is the carb adjust easy to find or do you need to remove the cover to adjust idle and cut speed Low/high? and has anyone done the muffler mod to this as well? If so has it affected starts and running idle?

  • A: Yes; the L& H screws are accessed on left side. The splined screws need the tool; you can buy it online you don't need to be a tech lol;)....or simply take the blue plastic insulator off a 16-14 gauge wire terminal & jam it over the splined screw head then take a small flat driver & jam it in the insulator.....left to open etc.
