love it but be careful

I bought this sometime around November- December of 2019, its an amazing bed, my dog loves it especially when he gets to sleep in it, my cat tends to steal it from him. Few days ago, I noticed tiny marks showing up on my dog, I checked the bed and then got stabbed, I cut a hole in the bed and this this piece of plastic. If you look at it, you think oh that cant hurt that bad but it is sharp. I cant figure out why its there, it has no purpose.. Other than that my kids (pets) love it..

A: The whole bed is machine washable. There is no removable cover. The whole bed goes straight in the washing machine. No need to remove different parts.
