It fixed my lock

This stuff is magical! The lock to my condo was really problematic and I was worried the key would break when inserting and removing it. I had heard about this so tried it and now the lock is so smooth moving.

Product good, container bad

Many years ago I purchased a tube of graphite lubricant similar to this. I was visiting out-of-town in-laws recently and their door lock was sticky, so I went to CT to get another tube. When I cut the smallest amount off the "nozzle" to start using the product, it produced a fairly large-diameter hole, unlike the tube I purchased in the previous century. Squirting the graphite powder into the lock made a fair mess because of the size of the hole (and probably used up 10 times as much graphite powder as I would have using my other tube). In summary: if you are looking to shoot a small bit of graphite into a lock, you might try sticking a pin or needle through the end of the nozzle, rather than cutting the tip off. Unless you like graphite powder all over the place.

Q: Can you use to stop squeaks on wood floors?

  • A: I rather doubt it. I used this on metal inside my oven to make the racks glide easily. This was recommended by an appliance repairman.

Q: Is grafite good for electric motors

1 Answer
  • A: Hello Billy, thank you for your question. Ideally, we would need more information as to how the graphite powder would be used. But if the intention is to spray the powder into a sealed electric motor, then we do not recommend this. In doing so, the powder can migrate to unwanted areas and attract dust and other contaminants. The powder is also slightly conductive and could cause short circuits and motor failure. We do not recommend using graphite powder to lubricate an electric motor. Thank you.

Q: Is this my best option for leaf springs?

1 Answer
  • A: Hello therosehermit, thank you for the great question with respect to lubricating your leaf springs. There are many opposing views and recommendations on lubricating leaf springs. In your case, we would recommend that you check your owner's manual or with the OEM/Manufacturer of the leafs springs on your vehicle to determine whether they need to be lubricated, and if so what lubricant can be used. Also note that when lubrication is recommended, modern leaf spring metals are not compatible with petroleum based lubricants, therefore a non-petroleum based lubricant should be used. Please feel free to reach out to us with any further comments or questions. Please visit: https://www.permatex.com/contact/. Thank you.

Q: Can it be used for mechanical keyboard switches.

1 Answer
  • A: Hello, thank you for your question regarding Permatex extra-fine graphite lube for use on keyboard switches. This has been a difficult question to research. The defining element in lubricating keyboard switches appears to be improving and/or maintaining the precise tactile response of the switch. We have not tested our graphite lubricant for this purpose. Most PC gaming sites that we have researched appear to be recommending low viscosity greases in very small amounts for each contact. Without having conducted long-term testing, we cannot fully endorse using a dry graphite lube for this purpose. Thank you.

Q: large particles I asked a question did you give it a good shake so it doesn't come out and large particles and breaks up or you gave it a good shake and it still comes out of large particles

1 Answer
  • A: Permatex Extra Fine Graphite Lubricant is a dry lubricant that has the consistency of fine powder. It should not consist of large particles. Instead of shaking, try kneading the package, with the cap on, prior to dispensing. This will loosen any product that has come together.
