Plastique

Excellent kaiak, a great option for both recreational and fishing activities. I strongly recommend it, especially when it is on sale; it is the best cost-benefit by far.!!!!

Excellent No issues

I bought two of these this summer. I have been out several times with my boys ages (13) (16). We enjoyed them very much. They can take a beating as well. They are light and also stable in the water. Im 200 lbs and tried really hard to role it over but the foam in the gunnels prevents it. ( Unless you are being foolish). Put then away for the winter but cant wait until next season to get back in them. Great way to spend time with your family and off the screens.

Yes, I recommend this product.

  • A: There will be enough adjustment for a paddler that height. The Vanquish is a really stable boat due to its twin arch hull.

Q: I too, would like to know the weight of this kayak? I am a female and wondering if I would be able to load it onto the roof of a car without assistance....that is one thing stopping me from purchasing to date.

  • A: It can be a pain to load alone. It's not so much that it's heavy, but that it's long and unwieldy, my SUV roof is high, and I'm short (5'5"). I have a smaller kayak that I can just flip over my head a load on the roof, but this one takes some engineering. It doesn't help that I have a "J-style" double carrier with rubberized grips, so that nothing slides. J-Style means you have to load the kayak on its side. With the weight distribution on this length of kayak that is too much for me. My solution is to put my carrier into single mode, so the boat ill lay flat. Then I place a blanket over the back of my SUV, so it covers the glass and exposed roof (for protection) and also covers the grips on the kayak carrier. I lean the front of the kayak against the back of the vehicle, lift from the back, and slide it into position in the carrier, remove the blanket, and strap it down - I need to carry a 3-step folding ladder to reach the strap guides and other points. That's what I do for one, but if I want to carry both kayaks, once I get the big one on the roof, I use the step (and an open window for stability) to manoeuvre the kayak and the carrier into the J position and strap it down. Then, I just throw the smaller one up on the other side and tie it down too. Like I said... I'm 5'5" and pushing 60. Not the easiest task alone, but where there's a will, there's a way.

Q: Seat support and kayak weight...plus... Will it be easy for a 60ish woman to load and unload on a trailer alone? I can back up to a boat launch most of the time. Is there lumbar support in the seat? Could it be replaced? How much does the kayak weigh? Room in the cockpit for a med-large dog to sit with me? Drink holder?

  • A: For loading, see my answer to Hi2you above. As for carrying a dog, I'm not too sure about that. The kayak is narrow. Once seated, you have maybe 1-1.5 feet of space between your knees and maybe 2.5 feet of open space in front of you, which you need half of for paddling. Maybe look at a sit on?

Q: As a 5.2 female, weighing 125 lbs, is this kayak going to be too big? Is anyone smaller using one?

1 Answer
  • A: This model may work fine for this type of individual, taking into consideration that it weighs about 47 lbs. and holds up to 375 lbs., it is good for long distances with minimum force, stable, for calm waters mostly lakes. No other individual who is shorter than 5’2’’ has used this model.
