Getting back to basics...

Sold my bass boat and bought a Pelican The Catch 120. Best move I could have made. Now I can launch anywhere I like, in any lake I like (boat launch or not). No payments, no storage, no insurance, no gas, no expensive maintenance. I enjoy it being more physical and having to paddle to get where I want to go once on the water. The Catch 120 is light, stable, and fun to fish from. I would highly recommend it.

Carefull buying this product

Product had a manufacturing defect, improper seal between the two molds where the drain plug goes in. Causing the hull to fill with water, had to stop and drain every 15 minutes. Very dangerous, adds a lot of weight to the kayak. Pelican did acknowledge the defect and gave me a refund. Other than that it would of been a great kayak, I wasn't sure how many had this defect in the production line so I bought the Old Town Predator 13 instead. Has all the same features of the Pelican and more...Cadillac of all fishing kayaks. And only paid $360 more for it.

No, I do not recommend this product.

Great Designed Product

This product is LUXURY. I found the mesh seat design was great. Storage space in the back is sufficient. Front hatch offers room to store equipment. It's a pretty heavy kayak so it will take some time to load it yourself. Wishing they had the same model with 2 seats.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Works Perfectly for Us

Transporting: I was able to load the kayak on the top of the car's roof rack by myself but it's much easier for 2 people to lift and again I could carry the kayak from the car to the water by myself but it was a lot easier with the an extra hand. Boarding: Once in the water, It was very easy to get on and off of. I purposely tried launching on a beach, a dock, a boat and a rocky shoreline - no problems on any of the shorelines. On the Water: It was very stable even in fairly big waves, my dog swam out after me and she was able to climb on board and it was still very stable with her standing on the back of the kayak. The adjustable chair stays dry so you don't get an uncomfortable seat. The fishing rod holders are deep enough that you don't worry about losing your equipment. The compartment at the front of the boat is large and it can securely hold a lot of supplies. It's a great kayak.

Yes, I recommend this product.

Pelican Catch 120 is one stable Kayak!

The Pelican Catch 120 was definitely designed with storage in mind. Hauling your fishing gear and cooler is a breeze with this kayak. The large quick lock hatch provides a convenient place to easily store any items you might not want floating downstream while the 8" dry hatch with storage bag keeps valuables close at hand. One of the best features of this kayak is the super stable, flat deck platform which allows the everyday angler to stand allowing stand-up casting, previously

Yes, I recommend this product.

Q: Is this kayak rated for rivers

1 Answer
  • A: Pelican kayaks are made for calm and recreational bodies of water. This includes slow flowing calm rivers and lakes. However, if you are referring to a white water style river we do not suggest to use this product for that purpose. The Catch 120 is made for fishing and therefore should be used on calm waters.
