Pelican Kayak Purchase

They, I bought 2 of them, work great!! We downsized to kayaks from a 17ft heavy canoe! They are easy to get in and out of, paddle in and pop onto the roof racks of the SUV with ease! I recommend!

Cuts the waves and is fast but tips easily!!

Took it out on the water in less than ideal conditions. It was very windy, lots of waves. It cuts through the waves easily and moves rather quickly compared to my Pellican tandem. When I leaned over like I was used to doing on my tandem(while riding solo), the kayak kept going until it was upside down dumping me in the water! I was close to shore so managed to drag it back. Getting it out of the water required 2 people and was still quite a work out. The kayak was about 1/3 full of water and extremly heavy. To drain it out you pull out a plug that is in one end of the kayak and lift the boat to that side. I can now see the advantage of having sealed off sections on other brands of kayaks! Maybe if I get more used to it I can figure out how to turn it with out flipping it but, the fact that it floods so easily when it flips over is a real concern! I don't think it can be righted in the water once that happens! This has me concerned about paddling very far from shore. I think i will look for a more stable kayak!!

Absolutely love this kayak, it tracks great and glides very nicely with very little effort. I upgraded with this from my flat bottom kayak. It was a step in the right direction for sure. I highly recommend this kayak! Happy paddling!
