Rotten substitution

This is not the vacuum I got. I thought I ordered that one but that is not what I was given. The one I got is not as good as this one which I had for years. It also must have been opened as the screws did not fit to secure the feet.

Mastervac 608S stainless wet/dry vac

My experience with Canadian Tire staff was not good. They didn’t seem to have the ability to “listen”!
I went to multiple stores in search of this vacuum. The stock on the shelves had already been open and repackaged - first sign.
Regardless, I did find a CTC that had the product in a box which had not been previously opened. How bad could it be?
If you buy this product, be sure to setup the WET operation mode, or you won’t know if you got a dud!
I didn’t even have to turn it on to realize the one I purchased had an inherent engineering flaw.
With the foam filter in place, the locking flange plate mechanism drops to the bottom of the container - because it doesn’t lock unless there is vertical resistance against its surface.
The standard vacuum dry filter provides the vertical resistance for sufficient locking, but the wet foam filter does not, thus the flange plate drops to bottom of canister if vacuum is moved over grout lines or uneven surfaces when vacuum is not energized.

I used this shop vac today. Not even a year old and I noticed it has rusted through at the bottom. Not impressed.
No, I do not recommend this product.

A: Yes it can, but recommended only when picking up wet materials or water. Otherwise you should use a bag to prevent the fine dust from being circulated back into your space.

Q: How well does the Mastervac VO608S work when hooked up to a mitre or table saw. Is it powerful enough to stop all of the dust from escaping? Will the hose fit on a 2-1/2" port or will I have to buy an adapter?

A: Thanks for reaching out! You would have no problem with the power of this machine and it can be connected to a mitre or table saw. However, the filter is a standard type so it isn't best suited to absorb fine ash. You will need an adapter in this case since it is 1-1/4 caliber.
