decent shoe with 3 flaws

In a pinch I needed of a new pair of water shoes. Disappointed that Canadian Tire was selling their basic pair for twice the other box store in town, which did not have my size in stock, and only had ladies’ in pink no less (yuk), I went ahead and tried on the pricier pair.
They seemed bulkier than I usually like in a water shoe but were extremely light weight and I loved the extra support and little bit of extra cushion. Plus they could nearly pass as a runner for beach to street wear.
$35 seemed a lot for what I would usually only pay $10, but I hoped the quality would give me three times the wear with better foot health.
To my shock, at checkout they charged me $5 even more, saying they were on a mislabeled shelf (grrr). So I paid 4x my usual budget but decided to take the risk for the fit.
After an active weekend of wear, my feet were happy but I found the bunching footbeds immensely frustrating plus the fabric seemed to hold the less pleasant ocean smells, so much so that only a vinegar soak removed them.
Even so, I look forward to trying them again at a beach that has not left my shoes smelly to see if it really is a fabric issue.
And the soles? To be fair, it’s a common watershoe issue but at 4 times the price, I expected better.
Perhaps a $15 price tag would up the rating for value to price ratio.
But thank you for not being pink.

These shoes are very comfortable and easy to put on and remove; however, some of the drain holes in the white rubber sole are plugged.
