Don't let the picture fool you, this claw extends about an inch- inch and a half in diameter/width, the prongs come out from the hole in a cone shape, and they're strong too. I used this to fish out a chunk of drywall someone chucked down a vent in a house I bought last year I noticed had weak air flow. Had to play claw game with it a bit but it grabbed on and was able to pull it out even with it catching on the vent tube ribs. I don't usually leave reviews on stuff but this thing saved me a ton of hassle for a great price
