Q: Is there a minimum amount of space that must be left between the top of the unit and the floor above? I have a really old heritage home and I'm trying to maximize the head room in the basement. The floor joists are only 7 inches wide.

A: We recommend leaving at least 3” all around. We also recommend that you contact your local building inspector and ask them, just to make sure the installation is up to the standards of the local building code.

Q: is this what you would use in the attic spce above hole where light goes? I have a 1 storey with insulated attic space open to rafters. Would this work to be sealed in & have insulation covering it?

A: Absolutley, if your recessed light is not rated "ic" you need an enclourure like this if the is insulation present. Then use a cool blue 2 to seal it to the vapour barrier
