OK for the money

Bought a set of 10 two years ago and so far 2 of them no longer work, batteries were tested OK. I have noticed that the plastic lenses are turning yellow after a couple of years of being outside, but that seems to be normal for these type of lenses. For the money they are a decent unit, not the best but don’t break the bank.

Did not work, out of the box

Do not ever buy any type of garden light from Canadian Tire...these worked great while the battery life held for about 5 hours, and then the next day nine out of the ten lights just flicker on and off. It's been 2 weeks now, regardless of them getting full sunlight all day. I have returned so many patio lights I have lost count, and now it looks like these will go back too. Waste of time, and shipping cost.

Q: What is the temperature rating? In Canada... if I leave them outside in -15 are they going to get wrecked?

A: I review trashed these lights due to their poor charging capability (small solar cell). I was so "upset" xxxxxx off I left them outside in the country in the winter. They not only survived but actually seemed to work better. Boy was I surprised.

Q: I bought Solar Metal Light last year, everything is good, but the pins which is undergrand are easy to broken. Maybe they were broken by rabits or dogs. I was wondering where can I get or buy new pins. I don't want them become rubbish. Thanks.

A: Keep in mind that, at this price range, these are not meant to last many seasons. Consider them disposable and you won't be disappointed. BTW, not all the posts and stakes are the same dimension so maybe a neighbour who has some of the same will be throwing some out. I keep the pins and posts even if the lamp is defective and goes to the trash.

Q: Just got these a few days ago. Placed them nicely in my new backyard garden and 2 of them stopped working the next day. I did all the trouble shooting according to the manual but no luck. Now I'm stuck with 2 lights that won't work....

A: Take them back to the store where you purchased them and report them defective. They will accept a return. Then get two out of a new package to replace the defective ones and mark the defective ones. Be creative and always pleasant, positive and smile and engage the courtesy desk associate. They're human too! Canadian Tire has a commitment to customer satisfaction. Don't abuse their money-back satisfaction guarantee but they are amazingly helpful even at another Canadian Tire store! CTC is one of those Canadian treasures and I for one am proud of what they have done to offer Canadians a comprehensive selection of made for Canada products.

A: Not to my knowledge. You either remove the battery entirely or place the battery in the opposite way, if you no longer wish for the lamp to function.

A: The lights are waterproof when installed properly and not immersed in water. They are meant to be installed in the garden, outdoors.

Q: Replacement Stakes As noted by a number of people in the product reviews, as well as my own personal experience with this product, the stakes tend to break. Does anybody know how to get replacements?

A: don't bother contacting the manufacturer because the cost of 1 stake (with shipping) is more than an entire solar light. You have to buy new lights or find a small tree branch that will fit.
