Needs a transformer. Sold separately but store does not carry them. Very frustrating, had to return to the store. Do not buy unless you are extending from an existing set.

nice lights but poor quality in the water proofing.

the silicone seal did not hold water from entering all the lights. as a result 3 out of the 12 lights do not work this is the beginning of the second year of use they were not used during the winter months. anyone who buys these lights should reseal with clear silicone before installation . the plastic lens easily pops off .warranty is only 12 months good luck

Beware of other reviewers

First, this item works on 18V, which is not compatible with other existing kits out there that mainly work on 12V, so if you already have a transformer and wires installed, this won't work for you or you will have a very dim light. Secondly, you have to buy the transformer of the same brand and you are pretty much limited to its features. Also, the gauge wire used (20AWG) with this item is so small that it cannot be dug underground for safety reasons, so you have to leave it on the surface of the ground and its not very nice looking. BEWARE of reviews that were made for free, those are paid reviews and it is clearly stated on the left of the reviews that they got the item for free.

Q: Do you need to seal these lights? How big a hole do you drill to insert the light? Is there an instruction manual?

A: Hello, please see below installation for deck installation: Pull the lead wire of deck light from the ground spike. Remove ground spike from the deck light. At desired installation site, drill a 1 5/8" (41 mm) diameter hole. Run a bead of silicone sealant/caulk (not included) around the underside of the lip of deck light (A), then insert it ﬂush into the hole. Connect male connector for the deck light to female connector for transformer. Continue connecting the female connector to the male connector of the female connector to the male connector of the next light. Repeat until all ﬁxtures are connected. When you come to the end of your string, place cap that was removed from transformer female lead onto the female lead of the last ﬁxture.
