Q: I need an outdoor extension cord to plug in my heated birdbath, would this work or should I get a medium duty cord. The birdbath sits on my deck.

    • A: I have used this all summer for surgery purposes and all winter for Christmas lights.  It’s been totally reliable and no signs of wear.  It should be fine for you.

Q: Is it a polarised extension cord?

    1 Answer
    • A: Its a grounded extension cord. So it has 3 prongs. All extension cords are polarized which allows the plug to only be inserted one way. The difference is if its just a polarized plug, it only has 2 Prongs, this extension cord has a ground which is 3 Prongs. I hope this helps.

Q: Can this be used for 13inch 10A hand shovel

    1 Answer
    • A: I have checked the user manual of electric hand shovel, please read below: To reduce the risk of electric shock, this appliance has a polarized plug (i.e., one blade is wider than the other). Use only a polarized plug, UL-listed (CSA certified in Canada) extension cord recommended for outdoor use. A polarized plug will fit in a polarized cord only one way. If the plug does not fit fully in the cord, reverse the cord. If it still does not fit, purchase a polarized extension cord. If you have a polarized extension cord and the extension cord plug does not fit fully into the wall receptacle, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician to install the proper outlet. Do not change the appliance or extension cord plug in any way. Use only an extension cord recommended for outdoor use. Since the cord in question CTC sku# 052-2496 is grounded cord, we do not suggest consumer uses it for an electric hand shovel. Thank you,

Q: Can I use Noma outdoor extension cord, caliber 16 gauge 5 meter for car charging in winter outside the garage.

    1 Answer
    • A: This cord can be used for heating a car’s block heater in winter weather. It is recommended to use 052-2410 Block Heater Cord which is the same cord but flexible at colder temperatures. If the car is an electric car then it is not recommended to use an extension cord with charger.

Q: What is the max current? The product description on the web page says 13 amp, while the package says 10 A max (052-2479-6). What value should I trust?

    1 Answer
    • A: With 16 gauge cords UP TO 50ft they are rated at 13AMPS, MORE than 50ft they are rated at 10AMPS. The longer the cord the more resistance is created thus a lower amp rating. This rule applies to all gauges of cord. 52-2439-2 is a 16/3 5m outdoor cord. It is 13AMP 52-2479-6 is a 16/3 10m outdoor cord. It is 10AMP Both AMP ratings are correct given the length of the cord.
