Q: Can this be used with a 20lb or even 1lb propane tank on it's own or do you have to have the heater to use it?

A: Hello, I believe flex cooker item is designed to work with the Mr. Heater flex heater unit. Myself, I am going to try it with a five or ten foot external quick connection with a low pressure gas regulator connector on an approved consumer hose line that has one of the male quick connect pieces on end, The flex cooker has the female quick connect end that attaches to the male quick connector end on the flex heater. My initial thinking, if true, should allow independent operation of the flex cooker with the above approved low pressure quick connect hose line above. Ensure that the quick connect connections are in parallel proper sizing to enable a proper tight fit; and, for safety reasons , always check for potential gas leaks before igniting your gas unit for operational usage. If gas check fails, do NOT use it. Determine where the safety issue is and remedy the problem. The end user has to take own responsibility and safety precautions per attempt. If you can not find issue/problem, do not use your gas equipment. If it does not work for me, I will not use it either. Better be safe than sorry. My item purchase is my loss when I also have to purchase the Mr Heater heating unit to enable the flex cooker to be fully functional and operational. I am a consumer customer attempting continuous improvement with an independent Mr. Heater flex cooker accessory. Warning: Be safe and be careful. Use approved connection lines/products. Use calculated safety and not wild abandonment. I have no further comment.
