Product Details

The MotoMaster Mini Pistol Grip Grease Gun packs the same punch as the larger versions. If you only need a grease gun periodically, or your equipment requires a minimal volume of grease to maintain, then this grease gun is for you. It utilizes standard 85 g / 86 cc replaceable grease cartridges, which is roughly 21% of the grease capacity of a full-size grease gun. This model supports users who need to access tight working spaces, have light duty lubrication requirements and who prefer a small tool storage footprint.

  • MotoMaster Mini Pistol Grip Grease Gun offers convenient one-hand greasing operation ideal for handyman, automotive, industrial, farm and RV applications

  • Contoured lever develops more pressure with less effort

  • Ergonomically designed T-handle provides positive grip

  • Lightweight aluminum barrel with non-slip knurling

  • Complete with 6" (15.2 cm) extension pipe and grease coupler

  • 2-Way Loading: 85 g / 86 cc. cartridge

  • Output: 43 g of grease per 100 strokes

  • Working Pressure: Up to 4,000 PSI

  • Develops up to 4,000 PSI

Great Product

Really liked the part that plugs into the grease nipple as you can unscrew the outer ring for easier removal.

This is just what I needed

Difficult to load. The cartridge goes in easily enough, but hard to get it sealed sufficiently to force grease through it.

Q: Does it come pre-filled with any type of grease?

  • A: The mini greater is only the casing. Mini grease tubes sold separately at a reasonable price. Unlike some stores that sell only the product ,Cdn Tire actually sells the parts and accessories.

Q: What is the proper way to disengage the nozzle tip after filling a grease fitting/"nipple"?

  • A: Um, doesn't anyone realize that you can turn the knurled part of the nozzle to open/close the jaws?

Q: Can you attach a grease hose to this product? Is made to adapt with a grease hose?

1 Answer
  • A: While the threads on the head of the MotoMaster Mini Pistol Grease Gun will fit a standard grease hose, the opening where the grease pipe goes through the handle will not fit a grease hose. It is possible to use a 1/8” Female NPT Coupler to connect the end of the grease pipe to a grease hose, bypassing the handle issue. However, it is important to note that this external alteration was not intended in the design and function of the product. A grease gun that we would recommend with a grease hose attachment is the: MotoMaster Premium Heavy-Duty Pistol Grip Grease Gun (028-2720).

Q: I pulled the rod out to load the grease cartridge however no matter how I pulled, I didn't see a locking tab. there is space where I could a locking tab sitting but it's empty. Is the locking mechanism supposed to be always sticking out at the bottom?

1 Answer
  • A: Pull the rod all the way back, then angle it to the side so that the narrow part of the shaft locks into the slot in the bottom of the tube.

Q: I purchased this gun and loaded the cartridge per instructions.  Within 1-2 days, the plunger has worked its way thru the entire cartridge.  When I pull back on the plunger rod, all the grease squirts out the end of the plunger rod. What am I doing wrong?

1 Answer
  • A: Please return this product to your local Canadian Tire Store. The unit that you purchased may have a defect as the process you are describing is the correct way to operate a Grease Gun.

Q: Do I need to puncture the foil on the tube? I can't get this gun to work after following the directions. Are they missing a step? Do I need to puncture the foil on the tube?

1 Answer
  • A: Unscrew barrel and pull back follower rod (t-handle) and lock in place. Plastic cap on grease should be removed. This open end you insert into barrel of gun. Then, remove foil and screw barrel into head of grease gun. There will be a pocket of air inside of head which will make it difficult to start pumping process. Air bleeding - Unscrew half a turn and then unlock follower rod and push into barrel. This action pushes the grease/air to the head of the gun. By unscrewing barrel ½ a turn, it lets the air escape, without letting grease out. Tighten barrel. Pump handle for 10-25 times with pipe/coupler over garbage can. Grease should start flowing out of end. Then the tool is ready to grease your equipment.

The above grease gun comes with 028-0812-4 Multi-Purpose Lithium grease, 3oz./85gm Canadian Tire also carries 028-0854-4 Hi Temp Disc Brake Wheel Bearing grease, 3oz./85gm, which is suitable for marine use.

Q: Can I use this to grease my tent trailer wheels?

1 Answer
  • A: Yes - the grease that is included in the 28-2714 mini grease gun kit is a MP lithium grease (28-0850). A better choice would be 28-0854 which is a high temp disc brake wheel bearing grease which is also marine suitable.

Q: can this greas gun be filled with bulk grease

1 Answer
  • A: The mini grease grease gun can be loaded with Cartridges or with bulk grease. The only difference is that a little more cleaning is required if you want to switch grease types in using the product in bulk.
