    Not good for top mount batteries - especially if the clamps are recessed.

    I'm sure these could work fine, but they have a tab on the end of each clamp for side mount batteries that gets in the way of a good connection to a top mount/clamp battery. Considered just cutting it off, but decided to return these cables instead.

    Q: Would the cable by itself work as a stinger extension cable for a small 225amp welder ?? The hottest I've ever run it is 120amp

    • A: Booster cables should not be used for any other purpose than jump staring a vehicle. They are designed to carry high current for very short duration and could overheat or even catch fire if used for continuous power transfer beyond their capacity.

    • A: Aluminum cable can NOT handle as much as Copper. A 4 AWG copper cable can handle a MAX of 95 Amps. The same 4 AWG aluminum cable can handle a MAX of 75 Amps. If you're running it at 400 Amps, it'll be molten metal. one Google search for max rating of 4 AWG 12VDC show this plainly. Never trust marketing (400 Amps) unless you want to die a painful death

The Eliminator 4 gauge cables use a full copper wire which provides for even more powerful boosting, TPE insulation which provides even better cold weather flexibility and heavier duty clamps.

Unlike some other bi-metal booster cables on the market, however, the wire of MotoMaster cables is actually upsized (in this case larger than 4 gauge) to provide the same power conductance of 100% copper wire.
