    Questions

Q: Could these be used to connect an rv battery to a power inverter?

    1 Answer
    • A: We do not recommend using booster cables of any kind to connect a power inverter to a battery. This is extremely unsafe for a number of reasons. The inverter to battery should be a fixed connection, and of adequate gauge. Please refer to your power inverter owner's manual for proper cable gauge recommendations and visit our Battery Cables section to see our selection.

Q: Are these copper wires or coated aluminum wires? Copper coated aluminum wires don't hold as good of a current.

    1 Answer
    • A: These cables are copper-clad aluminum wire. The booster cable industry has moved towards aluminum wire as it is lighter and more flexible. It is true that copper-clad aluminum wire carries less current than equivalent size (gauge) copper wire. But unlike some competitive brands, we actually increase the gauge of our copper-clad aluminum wire so that they perform equally to their copper wire counterpart. So these “8 gauge cables” are actually heavier than 8 gauge to perform like 8 gauge copper wire.

Q: Can this cable be used to charge the dead battery of Honda Pilot?

    1 Answer
    • A: Booster cables are designed to jump start a vehicle, not for charging a vehicle. You should not leave the cables connected for more than a few minutes as they could overheat. These cables would be suitable to jump start a Honda Pilot but heavier gauge cables (such as 6 or 4 gauge) would provide a better chance of successfully boosting, especially in colder temperatures.
