Heat Shrinkable Tubing is a Must Have Product in every DIY Electrician's Toolbox.

These Heat Shrinkable Tubes slide over separate wires that have been connected and with a heat gun or a little torch will shrink to provide a tight, tight fit over the twisted wire connection holding it firmly together with zero chance of the connections coming apart, especially if it has been soldered. Furthermore, that connection can be 99% protected from water if Silicon Dielectric Grease is applied to the soldered wire connection before the shrinkable tube is slid over the soldered wires and the plastic material covering each individual wire at the ends of the connection. When the shrinkable tube is completely shrunk over the connected wires, the excess dielectric grease squirts out the end while the shrinkable tube creates a tight water-proof seal. This is something every DIY Electrician should have in his/her toolbox.

Q: Can wires covered with this heat shrink be submerged in water for a whole day, several times a month for up to 6 months?

A: No one's ever going to go on record saying yes to this. I will say this is "double walled" tube which has a heat-activated glue encasing which when an appropriately sized tube is properly applied with an appropriate heat gun & technique - it will seal a cable (and splice) very well - and possibly to submergable abilities for low-voltage applications. Double-wall heat shrink is my only go-to solution for any wire work. It forms an incredible bond with wiring to keep out moisture and salt, etc. while protecting the joint from stress as well. I also use it as a stress relief for electronic wire ends. Good luck!

Q: Could I use to wrap some wires on my fuel pump that sits in gasoline?

A: Hi Brandon, This product is designed to seal out moisture and protect from fluids and fuels, but not live submersed in fuel for long periods of time. If it is within a very short period (up to a minute), it will survive but the longer it is submerged the adhesive will degrade over time and cause leakage. Thank you.
